Level II Reiki practitioner Reiki ( pronounced ray-key) is a well-known 'therapy' that has been welcomed into hospitals, hospices and other medical or healing facilities in recent years. Reiki is a technique rediscovered by Dr. Mika Usui in Japan early in the last century. The word "Rei" can mean universal, higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness and "Ki" means universal life force. Reiki encourages relaxation, reduces stress and promotes healing. Many healing techniques like this "laying on of hands" have been practiced for thousands of years. A powerful yet simple technique, Reiki can be easily learned by anyone. Universal life force, or the vital life force is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. When this energy is low or congested, a person is more vulnerable to illness. When it is flowing freely, good health reigns. All the different kinds of healing energy have the vital life force as one of their important components. Reiki can only be channeled by someone who has been attuned to it by a Reiki Master. The Reiki attunement is a powerful spiritual experience for most people. A certified Reiki Master attunes you to the three different levels of the Reiki training. Level I: The first attunement opens up the student's channel for the Life Force Energy. Once you receive the attunement you have it for the rest of your life. You are able to practice self-healing and start to give Reiki sessions to others. Level II: This is a more in-depth level of training and deals with emotional and distance healing. This level requires greater use of integrity and responsibility by the practitioner. Level III: This is the level of becoming a Reiki Master, where you become qualified to teach, train and certify others in Reiki.
