The
blood plays a central role in the overall health of every person.
Nutritional Microscopy (a.k.a, Live Blood Cell Demonstration)
is a unique method of assessing nutritional deficiencies. This
technique uses a high powered microscope to review a single living
drop of blood (taken from the fingertip). A special camera is
fitted to the microscope and the living blood is projected onto
a video monitor. It is magnified up to 1400 times and can reveal
conditions that reflect nutritional status.
Distortions
of red blood cells may reveal low levels of iron, vitamin B 12
and folic acid. Incomplete digestion of proteins and fats, liver
stress, undesirable bacteria and fungal forms as well as hormonal
imbalances may also be revealed. The microscopist is trained to
identify these signs and how they relate to a person's nutritional
health.
Positive
changes in the structure of blood cells can be viewed over time
usually a period of weeks or months as improved nutrition impacts
the blood. After assessing the blood, recommendations with respect
to diet and lifestyle are made that can enhance a person's overall
health. Being able to see what's happening at cell level helps
take the guesswork out of nutritional imbalances and deficiencies.
Nutritional
Microscopy is a complementary adjunctive therapy, the microscopist
must be a health practitioner in a related discipline. Courses
are offered throughout North America. The training involves classroom
instruction on capillary phlebotomy techniques, microscopy, hematology,
nutritional protocols and practicums.
